Sleep Apnea Symptoms

Sleep apnea symptoms are result directly from suffering sleep apnea. The most common sleep apnea symptoms a person may notice include:

==> Apnea - Episodes where the sleeper stops breathing during sleep. "Apnea" means a temporary ceasing of breathing and is the first sleep apnea symptom.

==> Chest Pain - Especially while trying to sleep.

==> Choking or Gasping - Choking or gasping for air while trying to sleep.

==> Constant Waking - Through the night while trying to sleep. This is a common sleep apnea symptom.

==> Depression - Especially without understanding why.

==> Excessive Daytime Sleepiness - Falling asleep or feeling drowsy when you should generally be wide-awake like whilst driving, eating, talking, or working is a common sleep apnea symptom. Because the brain wakes a person constantly during the night, they are only getting poor quality sleep, causing tiredness. Most of the time, the person does not know about waking multiple times during the night since they do not fully wake up.

==> Frequent Urination - Getting up frequently to urinate during the night.

==> Headaches - Either in the morning or at night.

==> Heartburn - Or sour taste at night.

==> High Blood Pressure - This sleep apnea symptom can lead to dangerous cardiovascular problems.

==> Mouth Breathing - Especially while trying to sleep results in snoring and is an obvious sleep apnea symptom.

==> Personality Changes - Moodiness, irritability, anger, or being over-emotional.

==> Restlessness - Especially while trying to sleep.

==> Sexual Dysfunction - Impotence and sexual dysfunction are common sleep apnea symptoms.

==> Snoring - Snoring is a warning sign for sleep apnea. Snoring results from a blockage to the airway at the back of the throat. When the brain wakens a person to start breathing again, the large breath initially taken causes the excess tissue to vibrate, resulting in snoring.

==> Sweating - Through the night while trying to sleep.

==> Swelling - Especially in the legs.

==> Tiredness - Being tired without any particular reason.

==> Trouble Remembering - Even remembering the simplest things.

==> Unable to Focus or Concentrate / Short Attention Span - When your body is sleep deprived, your mind is unable to focus or concentrate.

==> Waking Unrefreshed - Feeling as if you have had little or no sleep at all.

Other conditions with symptoms similar to sleep apnea symptoms include:

==> Hypothyroidism - An under active thyroid.

==> Narcolepsy - Suddenly falling asleep.

==> Restless Legs Syndrome - Intense desires to move the legs.
